Player Development and Green Arrow

What exactly does the green up arrow mean when looking at a minor leaguer? Does it mean 'either promote him or watch him decline' or will the player continue to develop even if not promoted?

I'm confused...

And thanks for any help!

It means "Your scouts think he's ready for the next level"

Thanks, Big Red. Does the arrow mean he stops development if not promoted? That's what has me confused.

Not necessarily. He may be in between and struggle at the next level. Never a sure thing.

Have you ever seen a player with a green arrow continue to develop after not being promoted?

Yes, and I've seen plenty of green arrows for prospects off to a bad start in a season. I leave them alone for a couple weeks or a month and they often turn it around.

Actually, the green and red arrows are not related to player development. What they do is to show which players are in hot streaks or cold streaks. Green indicated hot and red indicates cold.

I think you might have that confused with the flame and snowflake icons...

The arrows have to do with moving players up and down. You are thinking of other icons.

I am pretty sure this is correct. It would be nice if they would explain the green and red arrows in the manual.

So a follow up question is..When is a good time to check your minors for the arrows? Is there a time period, ie number of games, that you should wait before moving a player up or down based on the arrows?

Exactly.

The arrows are suggestions to get your attention. If the player is not performing at a level to justify a promotion, a purely subjective case by case measure, then he stays where he's at.
