Can Anyone Help Me With a financials.txt Question?

First, sorry for posting after saying I wouldn't bother folks anymore, but I've searched everywhere, including the online manual, and can't find an answer.

I don't like "real" financials, and I've always created my own financials.txt file. But as more and more stuff has been added that isn't reflected with a specific column in the financials.txt file, the only conclusion I can come up with is that this might be where the "coefficient" number comes in, because it's certainly not obvious where else it comes in. In fact, I've always wondered what the heck that number was for, because it has no relationship whatsoever to the ratios in the columns that follow in the financials.txt file. In fact, in OOTP 15, the last several years of coefficient numbers are 1, while the numbers in the later columns all increase as the years go by. So it is impossible this coefficient number has any bearing on the other columns in the text file.

So, what is the coefficient number for??? And if it's not for anything, how does the game determine the changes year to year in values that are NOT in the financials.txt file??? (For example, signing bonus baseline, slot values, etc.)???

Nevermind, I guess the financials.txt file doesn't even do anything anymore. I could've swore I changed that file in OOTP 14, but I changed every year to be like 1871 as a test in 15 but still when I created a new league the financials were like that of 2013.

When did the financials.txt stop being used??? So now if we want to customize our own financials we have to input the data every year in the offseason????

Man, back in OOTP 9 or 10 (can't remember) I know for a fact all we had to do was make changes in that file and the game would automatically update every year.

Why the change??? Seems like a step backwards to me.

Well, never mind my never mind

I opened the original financials.txt in 15 up with notepad instead of a spreadsheet, manually typed in all the changes, and saved it again as text file, and now it is having an effect once again.

So apparently, when you save it with office software to a text file, it actually gives it a csv extension, and then the game doesn't read it. But if you save it as a text file, the game does still read it and it does still have an effect (obviously I can't speak for 16 since I don't have that one yet).

But I thought I had changed this file in 14 and 15 before and it had effects.

So, back to my original question.

Can anyone explain the meaning/use of the column labeled "coefficient" on the game???

I'm guessing no since this has been up for some time now, but thought I'd ask again anyway.

Thanks for any help.
