How do you copy an edited name file from one OOTPB version to another one?
I have edited my first name files and last names files in OOTP12 and would like to place them in OOTP15.
Question #1: Do I simply go into the OOTP15 game database and replace the first names and last names with the OOTP12 first and last names? (I will keep a backup of the OOTP15 names, so I can go back to them should anything go wrong) Question #2: In my OOTP12 league, I have set the name frequencies to 1, so that each name has the same chance of being selected. However, when I look at the free agent names, there will be four or five Smiths, Jones, or other common names. It seem that the game pays no attention to my name file frequencies? What's the problem? Is there some global database that I have to edit rather than my league database? Last edited by Eugene Church; 01-18-2015 at 05:08 PM. |

I just went into the database and edited the first name file and the last name file, hoping the game would just go to the edited files for the names. While I was editing them, I drastically changed the name frequencies... all the names now have a frequency of 1... but the game doesn't seem to know this. I went to Game Setup and selected "re-import name and ethnicity database".
It did the re-importation. I'll see if the free agency names will be more varied now. Hope it works. Thank you for your help. Much appreciated. |
