I just started a new sandbox mode game with the Detriot Red Wings

LW Henrik Zetterberg is not even on the roster
The season was in 2016

I just checked and he is in there, however he is injured so check your injury list ^^

Would like too make a suggestion

team league control tab

would be helpful if we had an ir tab too switch and see injured players on reserve.
