Computer play in Game
I was playing a 1986 game of the Mets vs Cubs. The mets were in the field and the ball was hit to Tim Teufel at second base. Instead of throwing the ball home, Teufel ran all the way to the third base line and tagged the runner.

I wonder if it was considered a rundown tag out? Otherwise yes that's a bit of a weird play at the least. Is the actual play stated as an FC 4? (Fielders Choice Second Base out).
I could conceivably see a play where the 2nd Baseman runs the ball in and the runner gets caught halfway. If the baserunner's baserunning ability is too low he could have rounded too far and got caught in the middle. Especially if the 2nd baseman was charging for the play and the runner going to first was speedy and there wasn't a play. Alex |

Yeah, most likely just a FC 4-2 that doesn't have the right animation applied to it. Something to add to the list of animation fixes.

Thanks guys and Alex is probably correct on this. I was watching it and I was like just throw it home, but Teufel decides to run all the way to the third base line. I have a had a few glitches with the animation. One time, I had my shortstop run all the way out to the wall.
At least it was a recorded out. |
