UBL openings

The United Baseball League is currently using OOTP v18 and we have been in existence since 2003 (like v4 or something). We are currently in 2070, so no current players left, but we have thrown in children and grandchildren here and there.

The league sims M/W/F and we have a 100M salary cap. The Phillies just "upset" the Indians for the 2070 WS title in 7 games and several new teams have made the playoffs in the last few years. We don't do anything too crazy, have compensation (though we may kill it), and have international FA and are likely about to add a second SA league to help player development. We switched to v18 last season and kept several owners who probably were on their way out, so we are cleaning house with a few openings.

The Kansas City Royals are 2 seasons removed from back-to-back playoff appearances but the owner just stepped down so this team is not abandoned. They are in good shape with a nice farm and the division winner only won 88 games so it could go either way.

The Texas Rangers are complete project and I'm not even sure where to start. The team has a long-time owner who did not do much over the past few seasons and we have not heard much, so the team is up for grabs. They have ranked last in pitching for the past few seasons but have some studly hitters and a good farm on the batting side (ranked 6th in the league). Competition is stiff as the AL West sent 3 teams to the playoffs the last 2 seasons and Oakland has won 3 of the last 6 WS titles.

The Seattle Mariners are in the same boat, good owner who apparently got tied up with life. They have a good young core, but were dead last in batting. They have a middling farm so this team will require some work...this team has not had a winning record in 15+ seasons. See above about the competition in the AL West.

The St. Louis Cardinals are just 7 years removed from back-to-back WS appearances, but the new owner did not want to upgrade from v17, so we are back in the market for an owner. They won 92 games a season ago and have a top 10 farm system, so this team is not in bad shape, but the NL Central is competitive.

Send a PM here if interested, our board cannot be accessed without registering so I will check back. We also have a pretty sweet hacked statslab site http://united-baseball.org/statslab/standings_n.php that contains tons of info.

The league has massive staying power - I'm now in it for ten real years (from 2023-2070 in game). In my experience, that's the gold standard - because you can probably count hundreds of leagues that lasted a year or less.

I think we've had 4-5 owners on the OOTP beta team at one time or another, so we also have a good deal of experience.

We don't have a ton of complex house rules (mainly around when you can offer players extensions, massive front-loading or backloading contracts) either which makes it easy to get up to speed.

Thanks to everyone, we are just about full. I have decided to open up Montreal since the long-time owner has not checked in for a while.

STL re-opened after filling. May also fill Arizona to get some new blood.

Let's try this again, some of the owners bowed out due to life. Have openings in KC, SEA, and STL. Two of them are big challenges.

Entering FA and KC with a ton to spend, SEA on the rise, and STL has some loot.

KC was filled and TEX opened up and filled. Still looking for SEA and STL. We are using discord as well to communicate.

Apparently I was wrong, Seattle is 1/2 game out of the division and leading the WC. Amazing considering that they have been over .500 once in the last 17 seasons and that was last year at 82-80.
