"Signoff" on transactions
One more question as I get into the game. Thanks for indulging me.
I bought this game primarily to manage, but there are things I want to control in-game such as major and minor league callups, so I selected "Manager and GM" to play. I don't want to have to search for free agents and what not, so I delegated that responsibility to my assistant, but now I see he has signed Jorge Cantu to a major league contract. Since I've got this guy named Mauer sucking up $23 million of payroll already playing there, Cantu is just taking up a spot on my 40-man and I have to waive him before I can send him to AAA and make major league money. Which leads me to my question: is there a way to "sign off" on a FA contract and stop an AI signing that defies common sense, or do I have to bite the bullet and do all the FA negotiations myself? Do it yourself or trust in the AI.

You could go into commissioner mode and edit/undo any transactions you wouldn't sign off on.

I thought about commissioner mode. I went there and then thought better of it because I don't want to get in the habit of using the editor when something happens that I don't like.
I have played and playtested the Football Manager series of games with SEGA in the past and see a lot of similarities between the games. But one thing they do is have a "Director of Football" position whose duties can either be subject to the manager or not. This allows the "signoff" I mentioned earlier, and if people want to stay out of the editor, allowing the human player the final say on FA might be a wish list item. Thanks! |
