FWIW, I can't imagine Blender being less than up to the task for what OOTP will require. Spend ten minutes watching "Big Buck Bunny":

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YE7VzlLtp-4

Done completely in Blender. Spending thousands of dollars on a commercial 3D package (3D Studio Max retails for nearly $3,700) would be serious overkill, especially for what OOTP will do at this stage.

OOTP will let you import .dae files, and the in-game editor then let's you edit the ball-location diagram (which is used in the simulation engine) so it matches the imported stadium. After all the OOTP needs to know where home plate, the bases, the walls etc. are...

The only MLB ballpark I could not find a 3D model for is Turner Field. Anyone else find one?

I'm delighted that you're on the case.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

I'm not really skilled at this type of thing so I doubt I'd ever be able to create fullscale, quality models. I may at some point attempt to do some simple work on existing models, but I'm really going to have to get a look at how OOTP is going to handle things in-game.
I can vouch for the fact that even computer troglodytes like me can learn Sketchup. The trick is to take it slowly and follow along with some of the excellent tutorials on Youtube. Here are some that I've found useful:

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...0C90DCE62242C9

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...BB998FDD47FFDC

Be aware that Sketchup's latest version is from 2013 - many of the tutorials are based on Sketchup's previous version (version 8, I think). The basics, though, are the same.

Thanks, I did see that one, but it's real crappy compared to all the others.

I have no idea if these will just plug-in to the game as is since I don't have the game. This is something that would be better suited for a beta tester.

Suggestion to the powers that be:

Enroll Justafan ASAP as an OOTP 15 graphics beta tester.

OK, I'm at least able to pan around and check out the green monster.

Edit: I found another Fenway with a little more detail (second pic).

sweet! most of these sketchup stadium are pretty simple, and IMO, what makes or breaks a model is the the time you take to use good textures. Check out a perfect example of what I mean:

Avalon Park by booyah - 3D Warehouse

thats gotta be the best stadium I've ever seen done in sketchup.

Yes, nice one. I loaded it up just to see the field better.

Hmm, I'm liking some of these parks a little better than the ones I saw before. Could a texture map of colored dots be laid over the seating areas to create the illusion of a crowd? It would kinda spoil the immersion factor to be playing games in a realistic yet deserted ghost park (insert cheap Tampa Bay/Miami joke here).
