Question 2 Quick Questions

1. I'm manually playing almost a whole season and have noticed about half the time someone is on base, runners advance due to wild pitches on both teams every game. It seems to be excessive to me. Even happening with great control pitchers like Greg Maddux. Is this a bug or something?

2. There's been some gold/yellow circled icon next to some field players names (while on the field). What does that icon indicate?

What year?

I'm new to the full-version game myself, but if your league is set in the past (you can play in the 1870s with contemporary players Like Maddux, if you choose) players' ratings are er-adjusted. When you set up the game, you have a choice of what era to adjust to -- I recommend that you see what your settings are.

I see gold symbols on some players' pages (mouse over to see what each means). I do not recall seeing these when in the ballpark, but in another thread, someone speculated that the symbol mean the player has won a Great Glove award.

I started in 1994 (year of the short season due to strike). It doesn't seem like this is something that should be adjusting the ERA settings but some sort of bug. It's kind of depressing to know that as soon as someone gets on base, no matter the team or pitcher, the runners are going to advance at least 50% of the time due to passed ball or wild pitch. It just doesn't seem realistic.

Ticket

I just submitted a ticket on this.. I guess I was just wondering if someone made a patch or something for this or if others were noticing the same thing. Thanks

I use real icons so the GG is next to my CF.

I'm so f#ing sick of passed balls it's making my season unplayable...Molina who has a fantastic rating lets balls go through every game.

PB (and many other stats) can be VERY subjective the way you experience it.

i suggest you check on the actual PB stats in your game and compare them to real stats and maybe they are not as out of whack as u think

So are you seeing both PB and WP every game? Based on my calculations you are getting a total of 7-10+ PB and/or WP per game based on the 50% rate. Can you post 3 to 6 box scores showing this? Preferably from the same team in at least one series on consecutive days.

Consider two teams with 5 hits and 2 walks each. Your claim is that some combination of WP and PB adding up to 7 happens every time. Post a 20-25 hit game with 10+ WP and/or PB.

Where do I find Wild Pitches thrown on player stats? I know where to find it on box scores. I also know where to find PB, just can't find WP on player stats. I'm not sure they're all showing in the box scores, but I'll pay attention for now on. I know in one of my latest games, I was writing a tick mark for every one of my pb/wp and it totalled to be 4 on just MY team and it wasn't really a huge hit game, more like average.

Now that [The Game] showed me where to find wild pitches on stats, I've noticed all my pitchers have an increase in wild pitches from the real life stats (and I did choose to follow historical stats on set up). The most increase (from my team) was David Cone (RL was 5 wild pitches, this season was 15) but my relievers are like x4 the amount in RL. If RL showed 1 wp, my relievers show 4. I didn't look at every team, just mine for the moment, but I did notice it was happening a lot on the other teams as well when they're playing me. However, this was the year of the strike (1994) and the complete season wasn't played in RL, so I must also factor that in. I guess next season will show me a more accurate example.

The Fix

I was advised I can change the frequency of these in League Options > League Settings > Stats & AI

I changed the settings to .869 (Wild Pitches) and .720 (Passed Balls).

Happens sometimes.

What type of game are you playing? From the names you are citing it sounds like a random debut historical.
If so, what year did you set the historical to?
Molina should never catch Maddux... I don't think... unless it is a Random Debut Historical.
