Cautious Optimism

I've been spending a lot of time on the forums between yesterday and today after the release of the epically awesome OOTP16. and I have taken a look at some of the predictions for BTS...

I have to say, I am approaching this game with cautious optimism.. The way FHM was handled soured me a bit, but there are a few things here that really have me excited... Two specific ones actually..

The first is the utilization of the OOTP code base. YES YES and YES!!! Don't try and reinvent the wheel.. OOTPB is what it is for a reason and while the sports are different, I am sure there is a lot of stability and ability that can be derived from its code.

The second is a long standing development of a 2D/3B engine. I'm anxious to see what that looks like.

Lastly, I like where the bar has been set. The game is not looking to include everything but the kitchen sink with release #1.. Promises and expectations are reasonable.

That said, I probably won't be preordering or picking this game up at a release, but if all projects well and the community likes it, I'm hoping to maybe add this game to my sports sim collection.

Best of luck, guys!!!

I agree that with the disappointment of FHM, I am more cautious about OOTP-like games. We need a good football simulator. I understand it may be unjust to expect a game like OOTB, which has 16 iterations. I will continue to give a look to that forum to see how the game evolve. Wishing it the best.

I sure am hoping this will fill a long empty void and have a successful run. Really need something as immersive as OOTP in football.

I know we are all going to be cautiously optimistic but I think with a gokd group of GMs in place for an online league it can easily make up for any short comings the game may have in its first edition.

As long as the game engine holds up.

Agreed. If it plays a good game of football with realistic results, an online community would more than make this game enjoyable.

Yep. PFS sucks but it really is a great game because of the people in the online leagues.

I'm hoping the first iteration is good in solo play too. I've been waiting a long time for a game like this.

Don't let baseballonly's post fool you, PFS stinks in mp also, but they've learned to love their Stockholm Syndrome.

it's a work in progress so we should all be generous in how we view version 1. having said that I suggest as low of a price as the company can tolerate for this initial release. I think that would go a long way toward keeping the initial fan base involved and getting others to give it a try.

I like FOF, so if BTS can equal or surpass that, I'll be thrilled

Indeed. I'm a fan of FOF, but that GUI is so god awful, and it has other problems. I'm already very encouraged by BTS, as little as we may have heard.
