Crowded Market

All right, I get that it's a fictional game (based on the MLB), and that the cities are no more than just words. That being said, I am wondering if this market is getting a bit crowded.

First, I like league evolution, even if it doesn't evolve the way I'd like it. After 2015, the MLB expanded with an Austin team and a Jacksonville team. Being a sucker for expansion teams, I took the Jacksonville team, but I moved it to Nashville where it made more sense. Coincidentally, the team I started with, the Cubs, won the World Series 2 years after I left in 2017.

Now it's 2023, and I've had up and down success with Nashville. As we enter the 2023 preseason, it's announced that the Atlanta Braves have relocated to Memphis; re-named the Apples. In their final years in Atlanta, they averaged 2 million attendance, and were profitable every season. I just feel that this state is a tad too crowded, and even though the game doesn't realize it, they left a perfectly good new stadium. Or maybe I'm just overthinking it.

So, here's the poll:
Do I move the 'Apples' back to A-town?
Do I move them somewhere else?
Do I move the Redbirds to A-town, and leave the Apples where they are?
Do I rename them the Braves and leave them where they are, and relocate the Redbirds somewhere else?

This is something that should get fixed in some future version the game. It would be very cool if relocation logic made sense. This simply doesn't pass the common sense test.

I have enough problems moving teams around, having the AI screw up my teams histories for ill-advised moves would bug me, tho I can see why folks play that way.

You are overthinking it.

But we all do.

I'd probably let the team leave Atlanta if they want, but move a team back there and let them become the Braves after a year in the state together. Especially if they're an expansion team, seems like a perfect swap, they encroach on your market, you go back and take theirs and their name to boot.

In reality, if it were me though I'd rename the moving team the Braves rather than letting them ditch the Braves history for something stupid like "The Apples" but that's me.

I vote for turning off evolution lol. But you can't let the Braves change their name to the apples. Can you imagine the heckling away fans? Hold your tongue and say go apples, and that's what they would yell out lol

Eh, I'd change them back to the Atlanta Braves and ignore the relocation, honestly. But if you're intent on letting the computer do its thing, at the very least don't keep the Apples name.

The best thing to do here, I think, since you want to let League Evolution happen, is to move the Braves to a market that makes more sense. Charlotte, for example.

Still hoping someday we are given the option to create some form of League Evolution outline the game can use for team relocations and expansions. I love the idea of the the game deciding when these things occur, just think it would be cool to have some say when it comes to locations. Would also be cool for the more or less offense as well. Let us pick have some say in how extreme the changes will be. You couldn't make me play this game under steroid conditions. Heck, I have a hard enough time stomaching the 20's and 30's.
