He's definitely the best SP in the game. I recently ran a '19 sim and he went: 21-8, 2.54 era, 223 IP, 168 H, 46 BB, 260 K, 7.5 WAR.

you seem to be joking, but if you look at more basic stats instead of an all-in-one, you'll see he is showing signs of decline. i'd say the last year had some luck to maintain similar numbers... if this also coincided with a drop in ratings i would be looking to trade now, if he isn't trade exempt.
for the same reasons "overall and potential" in ootp get pooped on all the time in the forums, war is a silly stat to use on its own for anything. it can be useful, but it's not a magic bullet. it will actually be blind to many apparent things if something balances those obvious declines out with luck elsewhere that the pitcher is less correlated to have any control over (the exact opposite context too) i certainly wouldn't hand him a huge, long-term contract for past results. his k's are dropping fast and his babip against was unusually low the last season displayed. he's not the same pitcher anymore in that game. he could very well maintain ~nearly that level of success for a few more years, but once the ship is sinking it is best to get off before he's a 10/5 guy. best to trade within 1.5 years before he gets 10 years service time / trade deadline in that 10th year. unless youhave drastically different aging in your league, he's very likely to be a low 90s velo guy in 1-2 years. that "60" stuff is about to be abysmally low. sim most games and play the occasional one. I play as GM only and like to hire managers to do the lineups etc. adds a bit more value in hiring a good manager!
