Historical Facegen..WOW!
Somehow I missed this but the other day I downloaded the historical facegen pack and it blew me away! I am playing a 1939 historical league and it has really brought it to life. Joe Dimaggio's face is as authentic as it gets. I am not sure who exactly made the pack, my guess is it was a couple people working together but it truly is an amazing job. OOTP is great but what make it even better is this wonderful and talented community.

You can download and install it through Add-Ons Central inside the game. A couple clicks and you're done.

I work currently on the set again to made them better, but it's a long job so I can't say when it will be ready. Currently most of the 19th century and the players who played in the 70's (except 1979) are done. Quote:
Yes, just unzip everything in the fg_files folder of OOTP |

Amazing work! I don't know how I never knew about this until now. I used to go through the players and try to make them look somewhat like the player they were supposed to be...real basic stuff like making sure Rickey Henderson was not asian etc lol
It really has made my 1939 dynasty look incredible!!!!!!! Great job, it's people like you that make this game so great for people like me who barely know how to turn on my laptop lol |

I blogged today about the importance of the OOTP Community and this feature and even added some pictures of some of my favorite facegens.
Check it out |

Yes, historical facegen is a necessary download if you want to get the most out of OOTP.. Seeing Mantle in a Cardinals cap or Aaron in an Expos cap, or Honus Wagner in a modern Pirates cap, makes your league even more immersive. .

Is there a file naming mistake? Jim Fregosi appears as black but he is white.

I think what RP might be talking about is Fergie is called Ferguson in some DB's and changing him to Fergie will pull up the correct fg.
As far as Fregosi I would change his skin shade in the facegen modeller. Before/After |

I had thought that if you changed Facial type for a real player facegen it changed the fg to a fictional player? I will test this later on. I didn't change Jim Fregosi in my game.

Edit: I don't think Stynx was talking about fictional players. If you look at my 2 screenshots that is the FG files Jim Fregosi who appears to be black/mix, but he isn't even that dark of an Italian. What I posted was to fix real players not fictional. Last edited by The Game; 10-19-2012 at 01:11 PM. |

Okay... I guess I don't understand. I am still pretty new to this and this is the first time I have used FaceGen.
I am playing a 1977 season. I installed the FaceGen. For the most part it is good, but I have some players who are inaccurate. I changed them the way I said. Now they are 'fictional pictures'? What is the effect of that? They are more accurate now then they were before... What am I missing? |

Which DB are you using? default or a custom? I use a Spritz DB and he has some players named differently then how the fg file is named. I have changed Randy Johnson, Eddie Collins, Tim Raines Sr a few others. Is Tim Raines one that is inaccurate? The fg is named Tim Raines Sr If you have the facegen modeller or just open the fg files you have find who in your game is inaccurate and see how they are named usually its a case of them being different. Who are some of the players that are messed up? |
