OOTP 16 and Steam

I have a general question.
As I'm starting to get mentally prepared for OOTP 16, I note that OOTP is available through Steam.
Is OOTP 16 going to be available without dealing with Steam ?
I ask because I will not deal with Steam and I would be sad to end my OOTP purchases.
Steam prohibits unregistering a game purchased through them. This would preclude selling the game to someone else (after removing and unregistering it, of course) and selling it to someone else.

If I buy a game, ownership rights go with it, including the right to transfer it to someone else if I choose.

If that is not the case I walk away.

If you've been here for more than 5 minutes you should know that Steam is just one of the ways to buy OOTP. Are you seriously trying to say you don't know this? I find that hard to believe.

How did you buy v15 or 14 or 13 or v12? You have been a member since 2009.

OOTP 16 and Steam

Thanks for your note.

I am aware that Steam is only one of the ways to buy OOTP this year.
I am asking about next year.

Until this year, Steam was not an option. I'm seeking reassurance that it will be optional next year.

In answer to your question, I purchased my first version via Amazon on a DVD, and all subsequent years I purchased OOTP here.

My question was...and still is, will I be able to purchase OOTP 16 without having to deal with Steam.

Have a good one,
Lou

They have their own store. It seems silly for them to stop selling it from their own store, especially since sales from their web store aren't subject to any third party fees.

Yes, you will be able to buy OOTP 16 without using Steam!

As always it will be possible to buy the game from our site.

I think you'll find that the only thing you're actually buying is a license to use the software. Legally speaking, you have no ownership rights. It has always been that way, but it's only relatively recently that publishers have actually been able to enforce the law and protect their intellectual property.

Console games are treated differently by the industry because strong, hardware based DRM makes them very difficult to pirate, unlike PC games, so pretty much the only way to transfer a console game from one consumer to another is by handing over the physical disc.

My comment was technically incorrect. I did not intend to state that I had ownership of the game, only the rights to my own license, allowing me to freely transfer it.

Be well
