WHere are interactive storylines?

I have story lines turned on in the settings but 5 seasons through and I haven't seen any interactive ones yet Its a shame because that was the feature I was looking forward to most

Did you import your league or did you start a new one with OOTP13?

Interactive storylines only come up when certain things happen (morale lessens for example so in that case morale would have to be turned on as well), coaches are unhappy with player (personnel and managers would have to be on for this to work), or random events take place and you have to be in charge of a team for them to occur. Hope that helps.

I have played probably 5 seasons as well... I've yet to see one either. I guess I need to start a new league with coaches on.

Does it not work with imported leagues? Doesn't seem like that would be a factor.

It should work with new leagues as well as storylines get copied into your new file. Without coaches on, storylines in general are much less apparent as many of them use coaches within the storylines for added detail. Without morale and personalities on, you are unlikely to get any interactive storylines (as far as I remember) since most rely on a person's mood (so they make sense).

Ah that explains it. I play with morale and coaches both off.

I saw an interactive storyline the other day, but it did have a slight issue. Kyle Lohse expressed a desire to be traded, and a week went by without me putting him on the block. I then got an email saying that he either wants to be traded or he will retire (pretty cool to see this actually happening), and it gave me the option to put him on the block or do nothing.

I clicked "put him on the trading block," and I got an email the next day from his agent saying thanks for listening to his client. Very cool feature.

The problem was that Kyle actually never went on the block after I clicked that button - I had to do it myself - and a news story was generated that only said "Put Player On Trade Block" in both the title and body of the story.

So, I can confirm that these do happen, and I feel like it is a big addition to the game - but there appear to be a couple of kinks that need to be worked out.

haven't seen an interactive story yet in mine. seen some other funny stories. Saw a guy get hurt from an attempted robbery. Thought that was interesting.

Thanks for relating this issue. I'll get this fixed up. In my tests the player was put on the trading block but I'll check the conditions and see what is going on.

Edit: This is fixed.

Thanks for the reply. I love the interactive storyline I saw and the concept as a whole, and I just wanted to share my experience. I will say this - all of this happened at the "end" of a sim day, and I did not press "finish day" before I manually moved him to the trading block. I guess I assumed that it would happen instantly. Maybe I should have seen if it happened the next day before I took matters into my own hands.

This is an important point. So much so that I will recommend this to battists in his Online Manual thread to add it to the associated blurb in Global Setup:

I had no idea you could turn player personalities off.

Nope. You did fine by doing it manually. I screwed up coding the storyline It will be fixed in the upcoming storyline update.

I started a new league, 2012 season. Personalities, morale, etc turned on. Coaches are on too.

I have had Nolan Ryan die and his son take over. Would this be considered a storyline?

No, that has been a part of the club owner feature. Storylines are a little different.
