Option for Players that missed a season
One of the things I've always loved to do, is play historical, but create my own teams, locations and even league structure. One of the things that goes along with this, is the ability to erase all history zeroing out all player stats, league stats etc. Problem is, zeroing out stats/erasing history is no longer an option when playing historical. A bug fix (in the past for example, if you started your league in 1918, you would never ever see Johnny Evers, because he missed 1918,1919.....and came back to baseball in 1922. The bug fix for OOTP17 fixed this and now if you were to start in 1918, Johnny Evers will appear as he's supposed to in 1922, but in doing so, he brings with him all the career stats he accumulated from 1902 thru 1917. So in a zeroed out no history league, all of a sudden in 1922 your leaderboard will be almost 100% Johnny Evers) that fixed an important problem made erasing history obsolete and in doing so set a ton of limitations on historical play.
What would be great is if we the user had the option during league formation to select whether we want players like Evers to return or not. Markus said a ways back that making that an option might be doable, but as far as I can tell it didn't make it into 18. Last edited by David Watts; 03-31-2017 at 12:04 PM. |

Agree, agree, agree. Of course the ideal thing to happen would be for Evers in your example to come into the league in 1922 without his past MLB stats showing up as stats in your league but I guess that's not "doable" so your option sounds like the next best thing. Maybe I'll suggest this again in the bug forum since I do think it's a bug.

Agree. Maybe Lukas can weigh in as to whether this should be logged as a PT in beta, or in the v18 forums as either a Suggestion or a Bug.

Totally agree, players entering with thier RL stats tainiting the recordbooks is what is preventing me from starting an online league with Historical minors, It's particularly bad post WWI, WWII Korea and Vietnam War time. I started a Historical minors sim in 1915 and simmed all the way to 1950 only to look at the record books and see records that had dates from the first 14 years of the century and the only way to remove them was to delete the actual player who set them. If your not importing MLB History, then I don't think any players RL stats should appear anywhere in the game.
