Fielding seems to matter much more
Is anyone else being punished for having a guy out of position like I am? In older versions I was able to sneak a LF into CF and get away with it, but I tried it this year and the guy is killing me. 4 errors in 9 games with a ZR of -4.3
I'm definitely not complaining because it's forcing me to make critical decisions |

Are you talking about a left fielder with no rating in center, or just a poor rating in center?

He has no rating in CF and I was hoping he'd learn on the fly. It's not working out well

If a player has no rating at a position, this version of the game will absolutely kill him.

It also seems like it is happening that way at first base. In the past versions, I could throw just about anyone at 1B and he would do a good job but so far when I've tried this in 13 I seem to see more errors. Now this is a very small sample size I'm talking about & no concrete data but my observations have been in line with the OP.
If this is in fact the case, that would be fantastic. |

I'm anxious to see how v13 advances this area, certainly. In the past versions, I would always up the numbers for defensive influence in the config/engine file to replicate the kind of behavior that, it seems, may be inherent already in the mechanics. We'll see. It is good to hear the feedback, though. I haven't had enough direct experience with this side of the game this year, so I'm curious now and encouraged.
