Odd player movement behavior

So I'm playing around with creating 14/15 year old players that could/should end up stars in the NHL. The idea is to repeat something I used to do by "hacking" the old EHM game for a forum where I'd create players for some users and we'd follow the careers by running the simulation and posting screenshots etc...

So basically right now I'm trying to test what configuration would work best but I'm getting some confusing result when it comes to getting drafted by the CHL. I'm wondering if there is something that would help me understand why it happens or if it's some sort of issue.

As an example there is this all-star D that dominated midget but was never drafted by the CHL.

While you have this other less skilled guy that is in the CHL by 16

An other unrelated oddity that I just noticed is this 28 year old that just won 7 Selke trophies in a row that signed for 450k in Sweden...

When you create a player, he'll randomly get assigned a preference for playing eithr major junior, college, or European junior. The first guy looks like he got the college one, which excludes him from being drafted by a CHL team (technically they should be able to, but it works a lot better for the AI if they just stick to the junior-preference guy.)

The guy going to the Swedish league moved in November; if they're still a free agent at that point, there's a chance they'll decide to sign in Europe to play out the season (although he seems to be signed for two years, which shouldn't happen.)

Thanks for the reply. Figured it was something like that for the first one but its good to know exactly why. By the way, I said I was creating players but what I'm doing is editing existing players. Is there a way to create new ones instead?

One thing to be aware of for the CHL drafts if you create them at 14-15: to be eligible for their league's draft, their rights for that league have to be set to "none". However, if they're past draft age (e.g. if you make a 15-year-old for the WHL) you need to set his rights to "free" (or to a team) or teams won't be able to sign him even if he has the correct junior preference.
