trading ability
I could've sworn I saw a similar thread recently, but I can't find it going back two weeks worth of posts, so here goes...
Is there a specific reason why team financials are getting in the way of almost every trade? No team is cash strapped, but every trade I try to make says it can't happen because Team X can't afford the contract. Somehow every team is over budget at every point in the calendar year. Is there a solution? |

Is this using the MLB Quickstart? If so, the 10.2.15 patch supposedly fixes this. If you're playing a fictional or an historical, try setting the Cash Maximum to a billion dollars. It won't be a quick fix, but it should straighten out over a couple of seasons.

I'm using a fictional leagues, but the cash max is at 100 million. I need to further raise? Obviously not a problem, but geez. Thanks for the help!

$100 million is pretty high. The suggestion other than one billion I've seen is nineteen times the default, which for modern era would be $190 million. Still, none of these will 'fix' anything NOW, just down the road.
I guess my best suggestion would be to try saving a copy of your league, then simming to the free agent period after season 8. If things are still bad (and especially if still bad in the same way), try posting back here, and I'll stay out of it. It might be depressing to contemplate, but the 'common wisdom' is that after five to eight seasons the league will rebalance itself, and from then on there'll be a few flush teams, a few bankrupt, and most in the middle. I could be wrong, but I think what you're seeing has usually been reported after starting with a budgeted initial draft. A couple of people have said that nearly every team uses its full budget, and there's almost no money left for free agency for the first period. If that's your case, I'd expect it to correct much more quickly, like by the free agency period following the second season. |

I created the other thread. I downloaded the new patch and still have the same problem. It's like the NBA, the salary has to match up perfectly to make a trade. You can't trade prospects for a player or vice versa. I don't get it, and that's not what baseball is.

I increased all team budgets by 20 percent in my setup, and that seems to have solved the problem for the first year. Teams are trading as usual.

I upped my cash max from 100mil to 900mil at the beginning of free agency. As of the start of the regular season, still no trading. I'll try to plow through the next season in a few days and see how things are going once the new fiscal year begins.
