Suspension Typo

The commissioner's office issued a 6-game suspension, saying the league would not tolerate a player behaving in that manner. The disgruntled Gibbons refused to leave the field and kicked dirt on the umpire's shoes. His manager tried to keep him away from the umpire and physically had to removed him to the dugout with the help of the two other coaches.

Pretty sure in Real Life the news would be full of stories about the winners of these series.

The Beta Team has requested this often. Hopefully OOTP11 might cover all of the playoff games.

Actually we have asked Markus to cover each game during the season with a generic write-up. Game winner, game score, winning and losing pitchers, home runs in the game, maybe team records and standings position, team winning and losing streaks.

Must have been really high for the 1B to drift into shallow left field.
This is in OOTP9.

Must be tough to fix.

Markus has to do it.

Text team can't fix it. It is hard-coded.

I just had a guy attempt to bunt for a hit with one out and no one on base. The PBP said:

The pitch...
Lujan squares to bunt...
Pops it up...
Valdez lets it drop...
But now he flubs it!
He wanted to turn two...
But had to settle for one...
down to third...
Valdez comes in...
Makes the play...
Throws it to first...
And he's...
Out by half a step!

My apologies for such a cryptic report, but this was the first time I'd reported on text related bugs. In this case, the message was a news/email. Also, I've never quite figured out how this part of OOTP works. I believe the error must have originated in messages.dat. In my game, it produced this:

Quote:
Power Tags Orioles for 5 Hits
<Vic Powerlayer#417> socked it to the Orioles today at Memorial Stadium. The 30-year-old Athletics first baseman rapped 5 hits in 5 at-bats to lead his club to a 7-1 win over <Baltimore:team#1>.

[%string#1)

Power is hitting .327 for the season with 1 home run, 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored. He has 18 hits in 55 at-bats and played in 16 games.
The [%string#1) was replaced with whatever it was supposed to be replaced with.

Possibly this is problem is specific to the player, or game, or situation. Don't know. So I'm just throwing it into the hopper.

I found a few that had this [%string#1) instead of a token. I fixed those.

Thanks.

Either the whole Detroit-Florida trade is missing or it's just on Maybin's page. I'm not sure cause I'm on my laptop right now but I can check later if y'all don't beat me to it.

EDIT: Actually the DET-FLA trade is in his history but it's not complete. It says "12-05-2007: Traded by the Detroit Tigers. along with Eulogio De La Cruz, Mike Rabelo, Andrew Miller, Burke Badenhop, Dallas Trahern to the Florida Marlins in exchange for Dontre"

...and then it stops. Also the "Traded by the Detroit Tigers" part doesn't have to be its own sentence, it can be included in the second part "along with..."
I think Markus has to fix this in the hard code.

I BZ'd it.

This isn't a standard typo, but for the ABA Quick Start the Pasadena jerseys say 'Pasadina'.

news bug:

in a news story, when my SP got injured, it said he's 14-8 in 31 starts, but he's actually 15-8 in 31 starts

Unrealistic PBP Message

I'm playing in the Arizona Rookie League, the game date is July 16 2009. It's the Rangers Rookie Affiliate at the Mariners Rookie Affiliate (again in the Arizona League). Here is the Opening message:
"Both teams meet for the first time this season.
The paid attendance is 2370 tonight.
It's a sunny day, with a temperature of -11 degrees.
We're ready to get started!"

Just wanted to point out the temperature.

Beautiful baseball weather!
Is the park listed as in the Antarctic or something? Or does it say it's somewhere in Arizona and they'll have an arctic chill in July (I'll cancel my vacation plans if so)?

When a team extends a popular player, a General News message is generated that refers to the fan reaction to the "aquisition" of the player, not to the extension of the player's contract. So there are two errors:

- the description of the event is inaccurate
- the inaccurate description is spelled wrong (should be "acquisition", not "aquisition").

BZ #3201.

Markus has to fix this one.

I don't see this category in the text database.
