53 and all in on a geezer's league.

My first baseball sim was Statis-Pro in '79 while staying at my grandparents house for the summer. I still remember sitting at a card table, sorting out all the teams while watching the all-star game. Had no idea I'd essentially still be doing the same thing 40+ years later!

I played that one too. I did prefer Statis Pro Basketball as at the time my baseball game of choice was Longball and shortly after Strat-o-matic.

Sounds like an new thread should be setup advertising for a Geezers League! I would head it up, but remember that I just bought the game and have only been playing Perfect Team so far. That wasn't the intention, but I'm in the running for my division! 1/2 game behind and about to start a 3 game series against the leader! More coffee!

P.S. It wouldn't have to be exclusive to Geezers, just geared towards them. You know, require teams to be named after medical conditions (High Blood Pressure Bandits) or prescription drugs (Crestor Crowns), etc.

Whew! Somebody here (slightly) older than me! Stick around, will you? For the obvious reason as well as making me feel better.

Finding OOTP (and in the past the Gambo/Spritze databases, plus the great mods) it hit all the boxes and brought me back to when I wrote out stats, and box scores. (thank god I don't have to do that anymore).
I made one change. But other than, that, everything checks out. Including the age.

I also played a few years in a face to face Strat-o-matic league. I cannot count the number of baseball computer games I've played over the years. From the 1980's Avalon Hill Baseball game to Tony Larussa to Microleague baseball to this great game. I believe I also played Purestat.

edit: Should also note Longball, me and my buddy who plays OOTP with me to this day played that boardgame like crazy in 1977-78.
I started with All Star Baseball, still have it. Even ordered extra player disks when I was a kid like all time greats package.

From there an APBA guy, first cards and dice and then the computer version. Was in an online league with the computer game that my Coney Island team in PT is loosely based on (not all the players are available).

I'm 41. Grew up a big baseball guy, and hockey.

Played strat o matic baseball, hockey, and football. Pursue the pennant, statis pro basketball and boxing. Negameco college basketball and football.

Went more into video games type stuff through college abd after but that could never really scratch the itch of realism and versatility.

Got back into strat o matic. It's really good
My issue though is they do not really listen to their customers, nor improve or enhance their products. I still like the products, but they could really use software development.

Stumbled on OOTP a couple months ago as I was looking for an NCAA football sim. So impressive, love the developer interaction. Purchase fm6 shortly after and preordered 21 as soon as it went on sale

I played SP basketball and football too. Then in college my roomie got me into Strat hockey, which frankly I'd probably still be playing if I had any disposable income after graduating. (I do now, but it's all OOTP currently...and maybe FHM too soon...)

That is awesome.

PT is not my main focus, but I need to say that this is pretty cool.

If I ever start a fictional league, this is an idea I may follow-up on for the team I decide to manage.

50 here!
Been playing OOTP since OOTP4 all those years ago.
Never knew that a baseball sim would capture my imagination like this one did.
It made me want to join these awesome forums and converse with some other great players!
It made me want to do real-time seasons and show them.
I've done four so far.
It made me want to download logo, jersey and ballcap creators and show off my modding ability to this community.
Yeah I have my qualms with the OOTP AI, right Markus?
But this is still the best baseball sim there is on the market.
There is no other baseball game that grabs my attention every season.
Yeah, maybe it is just a game...
But its a game that has opened new things and ideas for me!
Thank you, Mr. Markus Heinsohn, for 21 versions of OOTP!
Looking forward to many more in the future!
