5 man rotation starting way too early in fictional league

Hi,

I started a fictional league (2 subleagues, 8 teams each) in 1901 and have simmed up to the beginning of 1920. When I went to check the league settings, it is showing that a 5 man rotation is the default.

Changing the settings year to 1919 also shows a 5 man default, but 1918 is 4 man. Changing to years after 1920 also shows a 5 man default rotation going forward.

Is this a bug, or something generated randomly for my fictional league? Is this something I can change or disable in a config file? I didn't see one where I could edit the yearly settings for pitching staff.

I have automatic league evolution disabled.

Thanks!

From what you've described, I'm guessing you have the box checked for "automatically adjust league strategy when advancing to next season" If this box is checked your game will adjust as years go by according to OOTP's historical settings. This is a nice feature, because it also ensures teams are stealing bases according to history. Pinch hitting for pitchers according to history...bunting, using defensive subs etc. etc.

You can always manually change the pitching rotations size to 4. Or you can uncheck that box, but remember, if you uncheck it you will have to manually update strategy settings.

This is just my opinion and I would recommend you test it out before taking my word as gold. I think if you give 5 man rotations with "always start the highest rested" a shot, you will be pleasantly surprised with the results you get. Teams weren't exactly rolling out strict rotations back then. Always start the highest rested provides an incredible spread of starts over a staff with the top 2 guys getting the meat of the starts and a nice realistic distribution from 3 on down.
