Ring Fodder?
Just finished re-creating a number of pre-1960s European/North & South American heavyweights who would probably best fit into the category of ring fodder. Using version 2.0 I don't have the advantage of "0" rated fighters so I set their ratings as low as I felt reasonable.
I think, for the most part, that these types of "boxers" should be restricted by the game in a future version to only participate in bouts in their home countries or regions. There wouldn't be much sense for a promoter to pay the travel fare for a foreign ham & egger when he could get the same kind of body right close to home. Cap

I generally agree. There's a wealth of "red meat" at the local butcher shop, so why go through the time and expense for an import.
Still I can't help but think of one Kame De Kabbajar, who according to the September 7, 1970 issue of Sports Illustrated, travelled 7,000 miles from Ghana to San Antonio to meet the much-hyped heavyweight Terry Krueger, was knocked out in the first round (one of the quickest kayos in ring history) and got back on the jet to head home. Maybe there was a favorable balance-of-trade for cannon fodder forty years ago. Being a free-market sort, I wouldn't like to see anything in the form of a tariff or an embargo on red meat in a future version of TBCB. |
