How to Fictional League with real players?
My idea is that WWII was much worse and lasted much longer for the US. This caused the collapse of the American and National Leagues.
Finally in 1951 a new league starts. I want the league to be completely fictional, though it will be based on RL, so I want to hold an inaugural draft with the real 1951 players. So do I start a fictional league and import real players...if so how do I import real players. or Do I start a historical league and change team names. |

Start an historical league. Release all players. Change team names and locations to match your uchronie scenario. Hold an inaugural draft. Play ball.

Also, remember to uncheck the box for historical expansion. If left checked, all the changes you make will revert back to reality once you reach the offseason.

Delete the real leagues, too, right?

For those wanting to know here is how I did it.
I created a fictional league. I imported all the 1952 mlb teams. I then cleared all rosters and released all players and setup a free agent draft. Then I deleted two, now empty teams, as my fictional league only has 12 teams. I then changed names, locations, logos, ballparks, and uniforms. Will be posting results to the Fictional Simulation Forums when I have it written up. |

I've found it easier to go the route suggested by TomVeal & DavidWatts - start a historical league. Then, rename the league, and either rename divisions or create new ones. One thing I would suggest in this scenario, is to create new teams and delete the historical teams vs renaming the historical teams. Also, when creating new teams, I try to use all new team abbreviations vs any historical teams (this is not imperative; however, it helps preserve the abbreviations if you are looking at player's real life stats).

And don't forget this key step! Otherwise, things will reset the next year to the historic teams.
