In the top of the second, the Tigers scored the first run on an RBI double by Brinkman.

In the bottom of the fifth, Kubiak tied the game with a solo home run.

In the top of the sixth, Rodriguez put the Tigers back in front with a 400 foot blast with a runner on second.

In the bottom of the sixth, Burroughs picked up his 70th RBI of the season with a run-scoring double that cut the Tigers lead in half. With runners at second and third and two out, Chris Zachary took the mound for the Tigers. Kubiak hit a two-run single to put the Rangers in the lead. The Rangers went on to load the bases with two out. Maddox then drewa walk on a full count pitch to bring another run home. Nelson then tripled to bring all three across the plate. The Rangers scored seven in the inning.

After six: Texas 8 Detroit 3.

Casey Cox took the mound for the Rangers in the top of the seventh. McAuliffe would score from first on a throwing error by Wynn as he was fielding a single by Northrup. Northrup went on to score on a Freehan groundout to third.

Ron Perranoski took the mound for the Tigers in the bottom of the seventh.

In the top of the eighth, with a runner on first and one out, Horacio Pina took the mound for the Rangers. The Tigers loaded the bases with one out. Northrup lined to third for the second out. Gates Brown flew out to center to retire the side.

In the bottom of the eighth, Chuck Seelbach took the mound for the Tigers. Nelson hit a solo home run.

The two teams combined for 22 hits in the game. The Rangers won despite committing three errors.

In the top of the eighth, with a runner on first and one out, Terry Forster took the mound for the White Sox. The Rangers loaded the bases with two out and then pinch hitter Frank Howard cleared them with a game-tying double.

With two out in the bottom of the eighth, Kelly gave the White Sox the lead back with a solo home run.

Cy Acosta took the mound for the White Sox in the top of the ninth. With the tying run on first, Burroughs popped out to second to end the game.

The White Sox got 10 hits in the win.
