Last year I greatly expanded the news and told battists and he released the Text Database here on the forum.
All I have done this year is just made corrections that I have found in my proofing the News and from the errors posted here in this thread. Apparently there are not that many errors this year. We haven't gotten a lot of posts here in this thread. I hope this is the case. The PBP seems to be very accurate and the News fairly accurate. I am still proofing both of them in a 30-year test league I am using for that primary purpose. I have checked the news stories for two years of the league and found it fairly accurate with no major flaws, just too many commas in some places and a few typos, but the tokens are working well. The non-token errors can be fixed by us, but Markus has to fix the tokens that don't function properly. So it is very good news that the tokens are working excellently. I will begin proofing on the PBP text soon. I played three games in full about a month ago and found it almost perfect with no errors. tysok and pstrickert have done a fine job editing the PBP text. |

Well, you have your updated file. Couldn't you post it on one of the mod websites or something?

I only have access to the OOTPB Text Database, so I can work with it. battists or Andreas have to process it and put it in a form that can be posted here on the forum. I know very little about computers and could be wrong about this process. But I think I am close to being correct. |

I see. I thought you just fixed the XML file and then sent it on to the higher ups.

I made it through most of the pages and got lazy, so I apologize if this one has been turned in already.
Message ID 226 You would have thought you were at a hockey game yesterday at Tiger Stadium. A free-for-all broke out when Chet Lemon of Detroit and Chet Lemon of New York rushed one another... |

It is too much to read the entire thread. Thanks for posting this. Markus will have to fix this. It must be in the Hard-Code. The Text Database story is correct. No typos or incorrect tokens are there. The token for "Chet Lemon" is not listed twice in the story. It has tokens for Player #1 and Player #2. Last edited by Eugene Church; 07-27-2008 at 06:24 PM. |

Eugene, I'm too lazy to look through this entire thread but I did search it for "swings," "swung," and "missed" and came up with nothing related. So, with apologies if these have already been reported, we need to insert "nd" so that "a" becomes "and" in all of them:

Also, please take a look at the item in the middle:

(I also searched this thread for "lopes" without success, so I don't think anybody has reported this either. ) |

Don't worry about double posts. Thanks for catching all of these errors. All 14 of them have been fixed, thanks to you. Plus I caught a few other typos, too. Last edited by Eugene Church; 07-28-2008 at 02:37 PM. |

Yes, that's what I was talking about in #250 and pstrickert said was fixed in #251. Next patch, perhaps. Easy manual fix, otherwise.

I just had a guy get 5 hits but my team lost the game...PBP is as follows:
"Moreno got the accolades today, and the Fort Worth Cats walked off the field with a 8-4 win." the and should be replaced with but---if Moreno had 5 hits and my team won, then the above sentence would be perfectly fine. Reading it when his team loses, just doesn't make much sense, and would sound much better replaced by but...

I noticed a typo this morning, mind you I was still half asleep so maybe it makes sense.
in the PBP ... "What a great catch my Dwyer" My first guess was that it should be "by Dwyer" I am guessing you could just do a search for "my" and find it. Then I thought about it and it could be used like 'my oh my' in which case maybe separating it into 2 phrases (maybe with !! after catch and player's name) so it seems like 2 different statements by the announcer. |
