I use Excel to create batting and pitching registers for my English Baseball League dynasty. I don't use it to evaluate players, because I don't control any teams or influence performance at all. I merely act as "God", setting the parameters, and letting them exercise free will to do what they want. I merely catalog the results. I download updated batting and pitching records every year.
For example, here are the batting average leaders in Baseball League history, in the League's first sixteen seasons (1888-1903), minimum of 2,500 plate appearances: As you can see, once you get far down the list, you see several players under replacement value overall. |
