Walkers news: July 29 -- St. Louis 8, Quad City 2

Record: 61-41, 2nd, 2.5 GB Des Moines
A three-run bottom of the third inning put St. Louis in front and the River Walkers never trailed in an 8-2 win over Quad City at Busch Stadium (1997).
With the win, St. Louis took two of the three games in their series against the Thunder.
An RBI double from Lucas Duda and a passed ball which allowed another run to score allowed Quad City to pull within 3-2 in the top of the fifth.
But Manny Pina hit a solo homer off reliever J.D. Hammer in the sixth inning. That lead grew to 7-2 in the seventh, when Andrew Benintendi drove in two with a double off Sam Holland and just-brought-up rookie second baseman Bo Bichette chased home two with a triple off Jesse Hahn.
Walkers starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks (6-8) allowed two runs on six hits over 5.2 innings.
Phil Maton got the final out of the sixth inning. The seventh and eighth innings were scoreless, thanks to Reyes Moronta.
Bobby Poyner was perfect in the ninth to close it out.
