Preventing Hitters as Relievers?
I'm trying to simulate early baseball (1860s) where the run environment was much higher than today. For example, the 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings had games of 37-31, 45-30, 71-15, 86-8, 65-1.
While I can get the runs up that high, I'm having the issue of pitchers getting pulled after 1 or 2 innings in an era where they normally pitched the entire game regardless of the score. Is there a way to prevent pitchers getting pulled for position players when the score gets out of hand?

In your game settings under the Stats & AI tab you might want to play around with the following toggles...
Use of Relievers = choose Very Rarely Use of Closers = choose Very Rarely Pitcher stamina = Choose High or Very High Pinch hit for pitchers = Choose Rarely or Very Rarely This is what I use to force most pitchers in my league to go all nine. But, the game will still pull them after a certain scoring threshold. Not sure exactly what that is but this will definitely keep the good ones in there longer. You might need to experiment to determine that. Quite a few will pitch into extra innings, as well. |

use a throw-away backup for this suggestion or just load a new game for screenshots from 1860s
import the historical settings from a year around when you want... take note of how the ones on the left side of the page change for the settings dreamteams mentions. it'll likely be the most extreme option of either spectrum based on your descriptions. about teh 2 that mention pitcher stamina -- one will increase how many they can throw in 1 game, the other changes how quickly they recover. believe the drop down on left is about rotation size and recovery, then the LTM is # of pictes per start. e.g. it's ~125 at "1.000" and KB-pitchers, possibly ~80mph guys can go higher? so, if you are happy with # in rotation, leave that one alone. otherwise, if you also decrease recovery time and keep the other rotational size setting unchanged to match, many pitchers will be skipped (unless default is strict rotation league-wide, which has some negative impacts, if thinking that's a good idea). more pitches? chang ethe LTM value. fewer pitchers in rotation? change teh drop-down box, but also select correct rotation size for team defualts (where you set # of bench players and such, believe it is on a different page than where you import the settings i speak of in Stats and AI, but maybe not. it's been a while) think you only have that use of relievers drop-down as far as impacting their use. it should be more akin to 1870 with some extreme setting.
