Putting Real Life International Amateur Free Agent Players in the free agent pool in historical game
What I am looking to do is make the talent acquisition process in historical games as true to life as it can possibly be. In this situation I would be starting with the Blue Jays in the year 1999 and I will have the amateur draft taking place in November (as is standard in historical sims) to get players to debut in the minors the year that they did in real life. The problem is that a player such as Jose Reyes (who debuted in the minors in 2000) would be appearing in the draft pool, whereas in real life he was signed as an international amateur free agent. Is there a way (through game setup or commissioner mode) to make players who were acquired as international amateur free agents appear in the international market as free agents and have signing bonus demands in the offseason preceding their minor league debut? I don’t want to make the signing process for these players how it is now with bonus pools and the like because I want this game to be accurate to the year 1999 but I do want the players to demand bonuses suited to their talent level that you must pay out of your budget in order to sign them (rather than just being able to sign a Jose Reyes to a minor league deal with no bonus for example). Any help is greatly appreciated as I feel this would make the historical game tremendously more fun!
