The Sabermetric Baseball Sim: Random debut league with modern teams/settings
League: Sabermetric Baseball Sim
Forum URL: http://sabermetricbaseball.proboards.com/ Reports URL: http://sabermetricbaseballsim.com/oo..._100_home.html Commissioner Email: sabermetricbaseball@gmail.com OOTP Version: 13.8 Build 30 Player Universe: Random Debut First/Current Season: 2001 / 2005 Sim Days: Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday - 6 PM EST The Sabermetric Baseball Sim is a random debut league using the traditional player development model. We are expecting this to be a very active and competitive league. This is a reboot of a previous historical league which went on for 10 seasons and had over 3,500 posts on the message forum, and the most active owners from that league were all retained. Additionally, we selectively recruited additional owners to fill out about half the teams before publicly advertising the rest of the openings. Those of you who are long standing participants in the online OOTP community should recognize quite a few "all-stars" on our ownership roster. Some important settings the league is using: -Coaches, scouts, free agent compensation, Amateur Draft bonuses, and player personalities are disabled -We are using "Low" for the injury frequency setting -There is a $150 million salary cap and $15 million max cash, with all teams starting out with normalized owner ratings and financial settings -All ratings are on the 1-10 scale -10/5 rule is disabled, but no trade clauses will be enforced -Draft pick trade (for upcoming draft only) is allowed, and trading of recently drafted amateurs is allowed -------------------------------- The following teams are available. If you'd like to join, please email sabermetricbaseball@gmail.com with (1) your full name and date of birth for the league file, (2) your AIM name if you have one, (3) top preferences of available teams. Chicago White Sox: http://sabermetricbaseballsim.com/oo...ms/team_4.html Houston Astros: http://sabermetricbaseballsim.com/oo...s/team_21.html Miami Marlins: http://sabermetricbaseballsim.com/oo...s/team_20.html Last edited by Sabermetric Baseball; 12-26-2012 at 04:44 PM. Writing this as a reference about the commish.
What the commish did not say about himself is that he ... * is a very seasoned (as you probably already surmised from his post above), understands the game and tests the applications that he wants to implement in the league. * will occasionally add additional elements to better the game and maintain a high level of participation. * has been very timely on sims (only can remember one delay because of a personal issue) in the ten seasons that I have participated. * is fair, consistent and straight forward on rules and discipline, if warranted. * puts the league ahead of his own team. I can recommend this league without reservation. |

Just like rOOk I'm here to say the same thing, basically.
He's a great commish and I, too, played in his previous league and couldn't recommend him enough. He listens to suggestions, even implements them if the league feels it's a good direction. Come join the fun, and watch me never get over that final threshold as the NY Mets. |

wow, only seven teams left ... commish sent the original league files and passwords out today. The first sim is scheduled for this Sunday.
Since this a new league, this is a great opportunity to get a team on the ground floor and then structure a legacy that is all yours!! Last edited by r00k; 05-04-2012 at 08:33 AM. |

Available teams list in initial post has been updated. We're about to kick off our 2004 season and need a few new owners due to resignations and/or lack of participation.
This has been a great league for it's three seasons of existence, random debut has been incredibly fun - kind of a mix between fictional and historical, so the best of both worlds! As you'll notice from the timestamp of the original post this is now the longest running league using OOTP's built-in random debut engine. If you'd like to join, please email sabermetricbaseball@gmail.com with (a) your name for the league file, (b) your date of birth for the league file, (c) AIM name if you have one, and (d) top preference of available teams. |
