R/L splits in the Player Editor

I am confused by how two pitching settings in the player editor relate (or don't) to each other.

"Resulting R/L platoon split" - this appears to be a value derived from the pitching arsenal, with a number lower than one indicating favorable splits against an off-handed batter, and a number greater than one indicating favorable splits against a same-handed batter?

and just below that:

R/L split - under the resulting stuff ratings. this looks like an entered value that can modify the derived value above?

Generally speaking, a player with a sinker, slider combo should have heavily favorable splits against same-handed batters, and unfavorable splits against opposite-handed batters. But I guess that isn't always true in OOTP because of the modifier?

Relevant to the league I am in because it is talent-only and doesn't show L/R talent splits.

If anybody responds, thank you!!!
