card wish list

Just a thought and see if anyone agrees. Would love to have a wish list of cards that whenever one is listed on the AH we get a notification.

Why would there be an Ivan Rodriguez Unsung Heroes card? Can't wrap my head around that one.

Because Rodriguez was the first big signing to help the Tigers become legitimate and not a joke. But from a stats perspective, I'm sure there are better catchers but being in the top 10 catchers of all time isn't too bad. So really, I'm the one who doesn't know what you're talking about.

I think the point is that Pudge is a HOFer and very much a Sung Hero.

Sure... but at THAT point of his career, he was an unsung hero.

Really? He had over 50 fWAR before he got to Detroit and hadn't started slowing down yet. I really have a hard time saying that he ever could have been considered an unsung hero. He was generally recognized as the best catcher in baseball for all of his prime years.

I definitely can't say Pudge was ever an unsung hero, but....he did kind of fall off the "fame" map after leaving the Rangers. Was still a great player, but seemed to be overshadowed by other guys on all the teams he was on after that.

Whatever you want to call him, we were both surprised and happy that he did sign.

I request more Astros catchers. I run an all Astros team and the best 2 I've come across are 60 overall Brian McCann and 60 overall Max Stassi. Now that I'm in Gold League it's getting ugly with them.

I have them platooning with Stassi starting every 5th game and McCann never starting again lefties.

Some ideas would be:

'91 Craig Biggio Historical All-Star card - I already have an 88 ovr rated 2B competing for time with my 89 ovr rated Altuve

'87 Alan Ashby Unsung Heroes card - Arguably his best season as a full time catcher, led NL in fielding pct and range factor that year

2013 Jason Castro Historical All-Star card - Was once the best player on some really bad teams then left via FA just when things starting getting good again for the Astros

Maybe a Brad Ausmus card. Just some ideas.

We don't have any Alan Trammell or Kirk Gibson or HoF Jack Morris MVP best pitcher ever cards but we have like 5 Curtis Pride 1996 cards. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve a card but c'mon.

There is a diamond Biggio catcher card, and there are at least 2 Alan Trammell's (1 Gold, 1 Diamond)

The good historical cards are quite rare so there aren't many opportunities to see them

I've yet to see it in the auction house or on a team using a player search across all 3 of my teams. Have a screenshot?

Sorry, but no. It was up for auction a couple weeks ago. I even made a comment in a similar "wish list thread" about it at the time since, even though I'm a Rangers fan, I always respected Biggio a lot. I don't remember much about the card anymore, other than the fact that it was a diamond (a low one, I think, and with decent ratings on the basepaths).

I saw a Chet Lemon but I couldn't afford it. I haven't seen a Jack Morris though. I think I'd buy gold in that case but not if it's overpriced guys.

Is there a card for one of the most prolific power hitters that no one has ever heard of.
If Gavvy Cravath does not have a card, he needs to have one right away on either his 1913 or 1915 seasons. I would give all my Perfect Points for a Gavvy Cravath card.
