I'm playing a historical game starting in 1901. I erase all career stats of all players before starting. Year by year actual players get assigned to their actual teams (next years players get assigned when off-season starts).
The problem that arises is that if a player does not play in 1901, but has played previous to 1901 and plays once again in 1902 be brings his prior stats along with him. As an example, Nick Altrock SP played in 1898 and then started playing again in 1902. Is there a way to erase his 1898 stats?
I'd much prefer to be able to use these players instead of deleting them (22 players at 1901 off-season). I'll delete them if it's the only way. Even if I delete them they will keep coming back until their career ends. As an example, Nick Altrock will keep appearing prior to every active year he played (he pitched 2 innings in 1924 at the age of 47). This means that I'll have to go through the entire MLB player list every year through 1923.
Any solutions? Thanks
