Warning! Gold relegated 4 teams starting last week!
So I didn't see this announced anywhere, but Gold level, starting last week, started relegating 4 teams instead of 2. I think it is good that they are increasing relegations for more levels, but confused as to why they did it only for gold. Here is the current team breakdown:
Code:
2046 level teams leagues act_lg promote relegat net newtms %gain perfect 1576 52.53 53 0 212 68 1644 4.3% diamond 2094 69.80 70 280 140 64 2158 3.1% gold 2018 67.27 68 272 272 -40 1978 -2.0% silver 2720 90.67 91 364 182 122 2842 4.5% bronze 2942 98.07 99 396 198 -28 2914 -1.0% iron 2866 95.53 96 384 0 -72 2794 -2.5% 14216 473.9 477 114 14330

The layout really should be more like a pyramid. Something like 5% Perfect(~700 teams), 10% Diamond(~1400 teams), 15% Gold(2100 teams), 20% Silver(2800 teams), 25% for both Bronze & Iron(3500 teams each). That would total about 14,000 teams (current total).

I would opine that the league system should be thicker near the bottom-middle, so Silver should have the most leagues. There is no point in keeping hundreds of well-meaning teams that can't get over the hump in Iron.
But there should not be such a bottleneck at Gold.

% of total teams in each level
Here are the % of total teams playing at each level:
Iron: 20.2% Bronze: 20.7% Silver: 19.1% Gold: 14.2% Diamond: 14.7% Perfect: 11.1% This is based on the first number...might be based on last week. But 60% bottom 3 levels & 40% top 3, with 1 in 9 teams playing in Perfect.

Ahhh.... how I wish there was a reset function. I know I've said it before, and I know some of you don't agree... but when I think how involved I was in the beginning and now I barely check twice a week, it's depressing.

Agree. Your reward for reaching Perfect is to simply get your butt kicked unless you're willing to dump hundreds of dollars and/or spend hours working the auction house. I have 2 teams in Perfect that lost over 100 games and can't even get relegated. I barely checked in this week.

Your suggestion of distributing the original 3 teams across 12 months, however, has merit. One would have to give up the concept of theme teams (more or less) but a fresh start every 4 months would probably eliminate the boredom factor that sets in after 6. I have to give that some thought. |

Side note: I don't have the time or money to invest in chasing that goal, but I can't help but think of the empty feeling that must eventually come over somebody at the end of hundreds of dollars and hundreds of hours when they realize that they've reached the top of the mountain and there's nothing left to do, but I digress... I'm hoping that tournaments will spice things up again, but time will tell.
