What happens when maximum bid >= Buy It Now price?

I noticed that it is possible to specify a maximum bid that is equal to the Buy It Now price. Any attempts to increase the bid further seems to generate an error.

What is supposed to happen in this case? If another bidder tries to Buy It Now, what will happen? Is there any scenario in which another bidder can still win that auction?

I have actually set my max bid to the same as the buy it now on a player to test this. I had the high bid at a lower price until someone came in and bought it through the actual button, leaving me with little more than refunded points.

If you can "Buy It Now"

for 1,000...why in the name of all that's holy would you continue bidding above that point anyway?

In a beta test situation, to see what happens if you do. Only way to test the logic is to try it.

Dude...that's the kind of thing I just presume Markus & the gang have already handled. We...are...spoiled by these guys quite often. They are head and shoulders above any other developer I've dealt with.

As a programmer, I know it's important to try and think of every scenario possible. Given that there is a place to report bugs, things don't always work right. The "infinite pack" bug is one that on the surface seems simple and yet there it was.

Markus and the team are great, but any programmer would be happy to have people putting their coding through the wringer during beta so these things either don't happen or are greatly reduced once it they get to "Go Live". It also doesn't hurt, as a user, to find out how the game will react when put in these situations. A win-win...
