OMLB- MLB Based League Entering 2018 Recruiting

We are an OOTP 16 MLB based league that started play using the 2014 default rosters. We have just started the 2018-2019 off season. Good time to get in.

- 2-8 Ratings scale like the real scouts use with a 20-80 overall and Potential again like real scouts use.

Hey I sent you a PM but I just want to make sure you got a notification! I do have a question though: the Constitution says that the commish will run all trades through the game engine to see if it works. Is that still a relevant rule? Part of the reason that I want to play an online league is that the AI sucks at evaluating players and making deals. The commish should reserve veto power for bad trades but I feel like the AI is too restricting. So, is that rule applied?

We do not use the game engine to evalute whether trades are good or bad. I also do not veto trades based on whether I think a trade is good or bad. If a trade's merit is questioned by members of the league I will open a discussion about it and see how the rest of the league feels about it. If there is enough outrage only then will I veto the trade. Only one trade has been questioned by a few GMs. However, after opening the discussion to the rest of the league, no one else was as outraged. So we did not veto the trade. For the record, the GM that was questioned in that deal made the World Series that season and the players he got in that deal contributed. So while he gave up some prospects he almost won a championship. I make that trade every time.

Now, the portion of the constitution that you are referring to where we check it with the game engine does not refer to the merits of a trade but the financials of a trade. If a team can't afford the trade (i.e. They go in the red) then the trade is not processed and will have to be reworked or canceled. If a team is already in the red they can only make a trade that is financially neutral or reduces their payroll.
