Previous versions of OOTP
Do you guys generally delete older versions of OOTP as the new ones come out? I have 15, 16, 17 and now 18 all installed and Im wondering if things might run faster if I get rid of the old versions (not that 18 is running slow, Im just wondering if freeing space might help improve gameplay at all or it really doesn't matter.)

if space is an issue, nothing wrong with deleting them.
I still have v16 and v17 on my pc right now... can't say I go back to play old versions once the new one is out; but this time around, it's been sort of a handy debug tool from my perspective. I modified the world.xml file back in v16 with some data for a custom league. In v18, it's causing the game to crash before the league can load. Since I had the old versions available, I could copy/paste the new modded xml file over the world.xml file in v16 and got it to launch just fine (which tells me it's not the xml file that's the issue, but something with the v18 program itself). |

I always uninstall the last version just before installing the latest version, taking great pains to ensure I've backed up any leagues/files I want to transfer to the newest version. I've never had a desire to go back and play an earlier version once I've started playing the newest version, so it would just be an incredible waste of hdd space.

I advise always holding on to the previous version of OOTPB, just in case.
It's not that I don't trust OOTPD to do things right, but there may be an unresolved issue that bugs me out of proportion to its generally perceived importance which prompts me to revert. That said, this only happened once to me and I did end up advancing back to current ("re-reverting") in the end. Still, it's nice to have an insurance policy.

I actually never delete my old ones, but I should. Before I wiped my hard drive, I think I had OOTP 8 and OOTP 12-16 on my PC. I still need OOTP 16 and 17 for my 2 online leagues so I have still been using those.

Funnily enough, I just noticed that the icons for prior versions complete a whole row on my desktop: 11-18
Not all of them are full versions; some of them were just demos for converting saved games. Anyway, they're not causing a problem for me so I don't care at the moment, and if I ever wanted to load up an old version I don't have to scrabble around for my product key. I can't remember the last time I used a version before 16. |

You realize you can buy a 1TB hard drive for $40 right? Space is essentially free and solid state drives don't have the issue of running slower when there is more data on them.

I still have 16 installed, but that's because I'm still playing the dynasty in my sig. Once I accomplish my objective or get fired I'll uninstall that version and move totally over to 18.

All my versions since OOTP 15 are on Steam, so I do delete them. No reason to keep them around when they are all just a click away from a reinstall.
Once I get a current version up and going, I don't know if I ever had a reason to go back to a previous one, although people who are in online leagues generally do use different versions depending on when their league updates. |

I keep all my versions....I have long time leagues that span versions and I keep saves after every season. I could import those saved seasons into OOTP18, but it is just easier for me to load them up in the old OOTP if I want to look something up. Plus, I can do this while OOTP18 is open with the league loaded.
