Signability of ammies

I think that this is one little corner of the game that remains a bit rough.

For example, I am looking at drafting a pitcher who is demanding "slot" and rated "extremely hard" for me to sign.

What does this even mean? He only demands the standard slot bonus. Nothing extremely hard about that.

In truth, there is little or no difference between signing players rated easy and extremely hard. Only "impossible" makes any difference, at least in my experience.

With players rated "easy" you can usually sign them for less than what they are asking.

Fair enough. Maybe "easy" has some meaning, then. Especially a player who is drafted high enough that the amount is worth quibbling over.

But "extremely hard still strikes me as a weird label for players who are routinely sign.

The whole thing could be simplified, leaving out all the gradations.

Or it could be made meaningful by having "extremely hard" players ask for quite a bit more than their slot amount, and insist on most of it.

I also think it goes to how many attempts you get. I know that with "extremely hard", if you offer them slot during the draft and they refuse, you only get one more shot to sign them. With someone rated as "easy" there is a lot more "back & forth" allowed before the player gives up. It is a pretty simple system but there are some differences between the ratings.
