Is the NHL draft done exclusively by looking at attributes?
So I'm about to start this run where guys on a forum created their players and we follow their careers. I dont actually play the game, I just let it run. I'm doing a test run with the players that have been submitted so far and I have this "surprising" result. This guy did some min/maxing a got a guy that produces...no doubt about it. But he didnt get drafted but the other 5 guys went in the first round and one of them actually only played 20 CHL games and spent the rest in JrB including the whole season before the draft. Born the same date as some who got drafted.
So here is the guy that didnt get drafted although he averaged 2 + points per game in the CHL. Franchise player 2.0 ability/4.5 potential edit: I checked his nhl rights and they are set to none. The following year 74 goals in the CHL...still not drafted =/ Last edited by KorbenDallasMultipass; 11-14-2016 at 10:32 PM. |

It's primarily looking at potential, but adjusted for scouting effects/errors. I'd like to get it to use stats a little more, but the real issue here is better looked at from the opposite perspective: the guy who got sent down to Junior B in his draft year probably should have been handled better by his junior team if his potential was that high. Roster and lineup selection for the junior levels has been a challenge.
