Deuk-Koo Kim
Deuk-Koo Kim (lightweight) 17-2-1 8 KOs Seoul Korea
Kim faught Boom Boom Mancini for the WBC LW Championship on 11-13-82 and gave the champ hell for 13 rounds. Kim went down and out in the 14th due to the tireless Mancini's constant attacks. Kim died soon after the bout and a week later, his mother took her own life to due the death of her son. Kim held both the Korean LW Title and the OPBF LW Title before he was granted a shot at the WBC version. As a result of the fight and the death of Kim, many believe Ray Mancini's carrer went south after the above hard faught win. He won via KO1 against a stiff in 1983, but then lost twice to Bramble and was finished by the end of 1984. MJ

I remember seeing Todd Foster get beaten by the Silver medalist Graeme (Spike) Cheney in the 1988 Olympics. If my memory serves me correctly, Cheney dropped Foster with a big left hook during the fight. I saw Cheney beat Alberto Cortes in the pros, however he just couldn't make it in top level. Last I heard of him he has fallen on hard times, and is living on the streets. Tragic for a bloke who was a national hero earlier.

I've been around boxing for a while both as a fighter, trainer, onlooker. I've boxed/workout in gyms in Philadelphia, NYC, Trenton NJ, Syracuse NY, Buffalo NY, Cleveland OH, and other smaller places and for every Mike Tyson or Ray Leanord that makes it, there are 200 other guys who are better, but for what ever reason, don't make it. I've seen it many times. Normally, its wine, women, song, prison, and deadly gunshot wounds.
I rated a guy named Jessie Boston, who could fight with anyone, but spent more time in county jail than in the gym. I last heard that he was shot to death about 10 years ago. MJ

I had to test him against Mancini about 200 times to fine tune him, though I've adjusted Mancini's ratings some. I have also watched the fight several times which helped.

Hello All, Im new to the board. I am interested in fighters from the mid 80's. I am working on a season disk covering 1985 through 1987. I am rating and playtesting middleweights. Here is my first stab at it. Shuler was a tragic story a young contender trained by Eddy Futch. Shuler was starched by Hearns in 1 round Suler died a few weeks later in a motor cycle accident. I play tested Shuler against Hearns MW and Sugar Ray Seales(Post Prime). I have several more MW fighters from this time frame in the works including Don Lee, Mike Tinley, Willie Harriss, Clint Jackson, Troy Darrell etc.

Hey there Sigma and let me be the first to welcome you aboard. There are plenty o fighters that fit that bill already at Cornerwork.com which might be down at this present time ( I haven't checked today.) Mr. Shuler is there rated by someone already I'm pretty sure. But any fighters you have will be greatly appreciated. Some of the other fighters you mentioned are there already too.

Always welcome new contributors sigma ... if you could post them as an export on here it would be better (for me at least) that way we can just import them into the game instead of typing them

Sigma;
I posted Troy Darrell and Chris Reid on the string "I'm looking for" here. Feel free to download them. You can also look through the "New HW boxers rated," "Fighters form the 1980s" and "New Non HW" strings (or any others on this board with paper clips that signify attachments like fighters or pics) and download them straight from here. CornerWork.com is also a great resource where several of us have posted fighters in the download and encyclopedia sections. Polo; I'm now working on a 1980-89 universe for JM through heavies, and Thompson is among the fighters on my to-do list.

Thanks vista. Are ratings on Darrell are pretty darn close. BTW are ratings for Buster Drayton and Matthew Hilton lurking around anywhere?
Thanks, Sigma |

Drayton's in the game, I think. Hilton has also been posted. If you don't find them, let me know here and I will gladly post them for you. I have both.

Crusade;
Thanks for the Joplin Ghost. I live an hour south of Joplin and the infamous Leon Spinks now calls that little city home. (Also, NASCAR driver Jeromy McMurray is from Joplin.)
