Kevin McReynolds (78) has been awesome for me. Unreal CF defense, as good as I've seen on any card below Diamond level, and can easily be trained as an elite LF and RF as well.
His hitting is pretty streaky, especially in the higher level leagues, seems to alternate solid seasons with replacement level ones, but even when his hitting is down, the other-worldly defense makes him playable, especially as a reserve/platoon guy.

The high-silver Brooks Robinson and Ozzie Smith cards are the same for me as well.
Those two, along with McReynolds, have stuck on my team even as I've improved the rest of the team with cards that rank far higher. Those guys just keep pushing higher rated guys out of the lineup and off the team by outperforming them, due to their incredible defense and passable offense. Jim Gilliam (78) is similar at 2B/LF (but can be trained to play strong to elite defense at any position), and for platoon bats, Joe Medwick (76) and Steve Sax (76) also can punch far above their weight, if you only use them against lefties. For pitchers, control artists like Randy Jones, Fred Newman and Tom Burgmeier are pretty good choices as well.

Rookie Sensation Tulo is pretty sweet as a utility player.
2018 Live Aaron Loup is decent as long as he never ever sees a RHB

Mark Langston threw my only no hitter in PT, so he'll forever have my love. Shane Victorino was a monster in beta for me, and I found Scott Kingery versatile and helpful.

I know he's been mentioned but Joe Medwick. Can't take him off active roster, even in Diamond.

The 66 OVR Paul Waner has never had less than 63 doubles for me in a full season. This card is capable of some extreme stats. 87 Doubles in my Gold League in 2022 was just crazy.
I prefer Rookie Tulo over many other defensive specialists. The Defense is capital E Elite, and he hits well enough to not squander away that value. I am also a huge Jim Gilliam fan - so much so that I am even in the ridiculous position to be able to state that his CF rating is maxed at 48 Jody Davis has played a serviceable C for me, which is excellent given his price point. I am surprised to see I am the first in this thread to mention Willie Wilson. Excellent speed with solid defense (elite in the corners) and contact (better vs RHP in spite of being a switch hitter) has kept him on my team in a utility OF role. |

I have been debating if he's worth a 1,000 PP upgrade over Pillar or not. Pillar is pretty meh with a bat, but he's got amazing gap power vs LHP, and he's one of the best OF defenders. |

The mods need to delete this thread as it gives too much good advice.

I have Stripling in a Diamond League, too. I'm using him as my long man out of the pen. He continues to amaze me.
I have an Iron as a super utility on one of my teams, Christian Arroyo. Plays solid defense and somehow manages to hit .280 at whatever level he's at. I just can't get rid of him until he proves to me that his ratings are just an aberration.

I would say yes, but depends on how much you have to spend really and how much you need an upgrade elsewhere.

Don Money 3B (Unsung Hero - 69)
He costs around 70PP and can play both 1B and 3B (albeit not brilliantly). However, he has good ratings against both L & R and can hit for power. He has a career avg .245/.318/.423 for across BrL, SiL and GoL with 270 RBI's 71 HR and 184 BB's. Projected so far to hit 119 RBI's and 43 HR's in GoL but expect this to drop by the end of the season. However, would recommend not starting him at 3B as so far as a career -42.9ZR. I recommend either 1B or DH but a steal at 69PP especially for a BrL team. |

The ones that did consistently well (largely ignoring defence) at bronze, silver and gold...
Al Simmons LF (73) Earl Webb RF (73) Hoyt Wilhelm RP (70) Steve Pearce 1B (69) has killed it (.800+ OPS every year) Eddie Rosario LF (69) Ichiro Suzuki RF (69) 2004 version Jody Davis C (67) Curtis Pride LF (66) John Wockenfuss C (63) Some others that did mostly well but got rotated in and out with form... Juan Marichal SP (79) Johnny Mize 1B (77) Andy Pettitte SP (77) Paul Waner RF (76) David Justice RF (73) Shane Victorino RF (72) Jacob Barnes RP (69) Don Money 1B (69) Vern Stephens LF (65) |

I'm still using Andrelton Simmons at SS in Diamond. Elite Def and still hits the occasional .280 while swiping a few bags.
Also still have Luis Apparacio as a utility def. He hasn't quite held the average in Diamond that he was in gold and silver, but he's 100 plus in def rating at 2nd/3rd/SS. Now if I could just figure out why most of my golds can't crack .300 and 25 hrs on default ballpark settings |

I ended up playing One Hit Wonder Chris Colabelo (73) as my every day 1B this season because he was putting up such stellar numbers in Diamond. He was platooning with Record Breaker Delgado but he just produced so much better.
