There are several low 90's historical pitchers in the 25-35K range: Randy Johnson, Maddux, Kevin Brown, Smoltz, Clemens, Alexander... all pretty decent upgrades from those two.

It is the middle of May.

The Raccoons are 11 games under .500.

29% of their PP this season come from snapping losing streaks a.k.a. when the *other* team slips on the banana peel.

They are scoring 3.2 runs per game.

Coons are last in the first seven offensive categories the game bothers to list on the Info screen.

They are giving up roundabout five runs per game.

Mike Trout is batting .312 with four homers.

He is in hell.

All other batters have apparently withered and died.

Gerrit Cole (93) has won one of his seven starts.

His ERA is *9.16*.

We could not be more of a mess if we traded for Richie Hebner to flip off his own team's fans and for Vince Coleman to strike Doc Gooden in the ear with a golf club.

Maybe Bobby Bonilla, just so I can then quick-sell him and pay him 300 PP every week in the second and third quarter.

Hey, I can already see Gold League from down here …!

I carried a no hitter into the 9th with a 5-0 lead and managed to lose the game.

Good times.

After a 13-9 start, the Trenton Minutemen have 5 and 9 game losing streaks ended, and to start off May on a 1-12 note.

The Direwolves are coming off two last place finishes. Pitching has been their weak point and probably will be again until I can build up enough points to upgrade a rotation who I still believe is under performing.

The Macon County Cardinals are coming off winning their division in Silver with the best record in the league but losing in the first round of the playoffs. They should move up to Gold this season where their pitching staff will most likely be their weak spot. Upgrades to the rotation (Gibson and Dizzy Dean) are prohibitively expensive and good cardinal bullpen arms are rare.
I put Gibson HL peak in the auction for 3 hours! its your chance if you have some PP in reserve.

My Clippers still have the #1 pitching and defense (in multiple categories), but we're last in runs scored, HRs, etc. Guys who should hit well, like Bill Terry (contact 82, .215 AVG) and Joe Christopher (C=70, .180 AVG) have forgotten how to hit so we've fallen to 20-23. Apparently you need more than just good pitching and good D. Who knew?!

I have a relief pitcher (Aaron Bummer) with 6 wins so far, 1 win behind the conference leaders (Gerrit Cole and Clayton Kershaw). He's pitched 24.1 innings over 19 games and given up one earned run in that time for an ERA of 0.37. His ERA+ currently sits at 1165. His FIP is at 2.75.

Might be part of the reason behind my hot start, my Laser Kiwis are 32-18 to lead my Diamond Conference. Slightly ahead of some teams that crushed me in Bronze leagues. May it continue.

Within four weeks, the Raccoons snapped losing streaks of 7, 5, and 5 games. Which is ONE way to get PP.

Worst team in the league, 3 1/2 games behind a safe spot.

The Healy Hoggs are 19-35, dead last in Silver .285. Decided to improve my defense, hoping that'll spark my offense. Right? Right?

My pitcher FIP is generally well below ERA, in case you're wondering.

Picked up Luis Aparicio and Kenny Lofton with PP earned from losing streaks. Carlos Correa can head back to the reserve roster, the bum, along with the guy I'd just called up to play CF. Now, if only Ted Williams, Ron Santo, Davey Johnson (2HR in 2 months? C'mon!), Yogi Berra, and Johnny Mize would wake up and start hitting the cover off the ball!

Some examples of my luck with some common cards.....

There are 18 Patrick Corbin card in my league. Of course mine has the worst ERA at 6.92
There are 5 Sean Dolittle cards. Mine has the worst ERA by over a full point at 6.00.

On my other team's league there are 3 Miles Mikolas cards as starters. Their ERAs are 2.77, 3.22 and 8.01. You can guess which is mine.

But you have the consolation the you have some of the cheapest very good pitchers.Hint: try Kopech

Opened 5 packs this morning and found some upgrades. Hoping Bryce Harper, Eddie Collins, and Don Scfhwall can put some life in my Denver Bears in Silver.

I mentioned in the Season 4 thread that I thought the game is too streaky. I had so many 4, 5 and 6 game winning and losing streaks that it felt really noticeable.

So far I am 28-28 this year after 56 games in Season 5. I have had a 3 game winning streak, a 6 game losing streak, a 3 game winning streak, a 9 game losing streak, a 3 game losing streak and am now on an 8 game winning streak.

Anyone else notice this?

Progress! Kurt Suzuki pitched two thirds of an inning of scoreless ball after had already been blown out by 18 on June 2. We can make SOMETHING of that, I fathom.

Edit: The good news is, we are already on a new 5-game losing streak, so PP are inbound …!

(weeps for the sorry Critters)

It has been a pain to find consistency. I have many many multiple game losing streaks into the 5 and more range to a 9 game. Right after I have a decent month I find the next I am in the toilet.

Gold Harper is pretty good (.700-.800 OPS, typically). The Diamond Harper, which I have rarely seen, is really, really good when I've seen him (almost 1.000 OPS).

EDIT: And there's 2 Collins -- gold and silver -- and the Gold performs slightly better, but both look decent. I've got no Schwall in my spreadsheet of teams I've played.

Moving up. Does Aaron Judge perform this poorly? And for a diamond at that. Warren Spahn is a way better pitcher that he is represented here,
allowing an average of 4.5 runs/game per season. Robert Stephenson is a 45 rated pitcher and look at his stats, granted a small sample size
