US Baseball Association - Established Promotion/Relegation League (entering 4th season)
Hello,
My name is Breich and I am the Commissioner for the US Baseball Association. Our website is www.usba14.us. Key Features A unique association-wide, mid-season tournament similar to the English FA Cup. All thirty-two teams from all three leagues participate in the tournament once a month until a winner is declared. The further a team goes, the more additional money they make (that I add to the team's finances, on top of normal play-off game revenue). Teams in lower leagues have more incentives to go further in the tournament, including a 'bounty' when they knock out a team in the Premiership. A Baseball World Cup, where players from each nation play in a bracket tournament at the end of every fourth season (currently being planned). The GMs for each nation are voted on by the league. A 108-game season, where each team players four three-game series against all other teams in the league. Promotion and relegation at each junction of the league; two teams promoted and relegated each season. A clean word-press front page with frequent articles written, an active forum, and a very active AIM group chat. Custom financials--all cash is available to the GM. A unique, commissioner-run loaning system--loan your new players to lesser teams to get them game experience. A MTWTF sim schedule, three games per sim. The live-sim function is used; sims begin on or about 0800 central and are run at 5x speed until finished, on or about 1500 central. The following teams are available: Premier League Atlanta Smoke Silver League Montreal Rivermen Tuscaloosa Tide Third League Chicago Hawks Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds Jacksonville Sharks Third League teams that are taken can have their names changed upon taking ownership. I will not be changing Atlanta because they have a rooted history since our first season. I could be convinced to change the Silver League teams but they've been here since our second season. Please use the e-mail function under my name to contact me about taking a team. We need GMs who are: Dedicated Active on AIM Willing to write about their team/league on the front page We are closing out Season 3. With 24 of 108 games remaining, the race for the Premier League Championship is tight. Five teams are within three games of first place. Brooklyn (Season 3 USBA Cup Finalist) and Boston (Season 2 Runner-up, Season 2 USBA Cup Winner) are tied for first, while Lexington (Season 2 Champion, Season 2 USBA Cup Runner-up) is one game out, Phoenix is two games out, and Grafton (Season 3 USBA Cup Finalist) is three games out. The top three teams of the Premier League qualify for the Championship Series; the #1 seed gets a bye to the 7-game final, while #3 plays @ #2 for a 3-game play-in series. Meanwhile, the fight to avoid relegation is tense. One of the two Silver League promotees from Season 2, Rocky Mountain and New Amsterdam, will surely lock up the auto-relegation in the #10 seed, with the other taking the #9. #9 plays at #8 for a 1-game play-out to avoid relegation. Currently, San Diego (Season 1 Champions) and Atlanta (Season 1 Play-offs) are tied for the #8, while Buckhead is rallying the #BuckheadBandwagon, sitting four games above with the #6 seed. The Silver League has an interesting battle for promotion. Louisville has all but crushed the competition, sitting with a record of 63-21 for the #1 auto-promotion seed. Detroit (Season 1 Premier League runner-up), after a sub-par Season 2, is playing well in the Silver League, locking up the #2 seed with a record of 54-30. The Chicago Gold Sox, in their first winning season since a 7th and 10th place finish in the Premier League, currently hold the #3 seed with a record of 44-40, while the nearest competition are the #4 SC Storm at 41-43. The #3 and #2 seeds play a 1-game promotion play-in at the close of the season to determine who makes the Premier League for Season 4. At the bottom of the table lie five teams within six games of last place, making for an intense battle to avoid relegation. The ignagrual season of the Menard's Third League has a very marginal spread between #1 and #11, with only nine games between those eleven teams. (12th is 17 games behind.) Panama City currently holds the auto-promotion for #1, while six other teams are seven games behind. The Third League promotion series involves #5 @ #2 and #4 @ #3, followed by a 1-game series between the winners to determine promotion to the Silver League. |
