OOTP install location

I use Steam which I set to install to my e:\ drive to keep it off the much smaller c:\ drive. In Steam\steamapps\common I have three folder corresponding to OOTP 18, 19 and 20.

What is confusing me is in c:\users\{username}\documents there is an out of the park developments folder which contains a subfolder for 18, 19 and 20 amounting to 6+ GB of data.

What are these folders on my c:\ drive and do I need them? (I deleted 18 & 19).

The stuff on your C drive is important. It's all your saved games, logos, ballcaps, jerseys, player images, facegens, etc. Unless you have downloaded a bunch of mods the saved games is probably the biggest folder.

There is an in-game option to set a custom data path (from the main screen, go to Settings and then the Expert tab), although I've never deviated from the default so I don't know exactly what happens when you change it.

Firstly thanks for the replies so far.

So this is the odd thing. The c:\ drive version appears to be identical to the e:\ drive version except it appears to be a static copy of the data in e:\. If i had to guess I'd say the c:\ version is a template from which the game is installed.

The saved games folder on c:\ is empty and there appears to be no files newer than 22/3/2019 which is the day I got 20.

On settings everything points to e: except for a few dat / cfg files which are in appdata\roaming. Default data (the zip files which I guess are extracted for install) are also in e:\

So I guess this folder on c:\ could be something from Steam's setup or OOTP setup.. but doesn't seem to be part of the active game. Anyone else got the same on their setup?

I always install to a different drive than the default. I have multiple hard drives and partitions. I installed to my E: drive and all files are stored there, not in My Documents. Therefore I don't fill up my SSD drive. I can wait the 20 seconds for OOTP to load. Most of the time anyway.
