High DPI and screen resolutions?
So many new monitors and displays run at a very high resolution and then the OS will attempt at some sort of scaling to make applications usable. I find it very difficult to get the right settings to work well with OOTP. Have there been any investments at better support for these displays?

This is a very complex topic, and so far we do not have native support but rely on the OS capability of properly scaling the app.

win 10 has a slider specifically for this... you can have the high reso and make the text larger, if that's the goal.
that along with the three options in ootp itself. id recommand that at normal or small so as not to cut off information on various screens. same with the win 10 slider.. optimize for the amount of space you want to give on Rosters and Transaction screen or whatever you use constantly with smaller spaces for text. you can run your desktop at X and a game at Y reso.. it upscales for you. ie a 4k TV is always displaing 4k worth of info/lines etc. otherwise, a 480p image would be a tiny little box centered with thick black bars around it. so, even Resolution can help you find the right size for your eye. screen size will be the key for this option and how far away you are from the screen. play form a coach with wireless keyboard? a viable option... up close and personal witha 20" screen, not so much. 1080 will still look good on a decent 4k, and give lots of room to work. i like more room to work, personally. cheaper tv/monitors show their stretch marks when scaling to native resolution. (and motion reso, but that's another essay, lol) Last edited by NoOne; 01-30-2018 at 12:26 AM. |

I have a Surface Pro 4. It's native resolution is 2736x1824. By default Windows uses 200% scaling, which provides a 1368x912 effective resolution. When running OOTP with these settings everything is way too big and you can't fit anything on the screen. If I override High DPI scaling for the app in Windows, everything way too small (regardless of OOTP font sizes). This worked quite well on my older Surface Pro 3.
Does anyone else have a Surface Pro 4? What settings are you using? |

You can right click on the OOTP.exe and adjust the DPI scaling but it still does not look good inside the game. This news is disappointing and along with the other very underwhelming list of updates I will be skipping this version of OOTP. My playtime of OOTP 18 was already much lower than previous versions. At least for me this may turn into a game I purchase every 3 years or so. The year to year progression is just not enough IMO. It also ties into my waning interest in baseball. |

Trying to get OOTP to look crisp at 1440p was such a nuisance that I ended up playing the game at windowed 1080p last year. It's not ideal.

One good thing is that the latest MacOSX version seems to have made some changes to automatic scaling, OOTP 19 looks much better on my new MacBook Pro than all previous versions.

Would you mind posting a screenshot of what the interface looks like on your MacBook Pro?
