In an online league, the previous owner of my team signed Matt Olson to a long term deal, but he gave him a player opt out after next season. He is on pace to finish as the best 1B in the league this year.

What happens if he opts out after next season? Do I have a chance to resign him for more money? Or does he go straight to FA’s?

Players decide on the opt out immediately after the WS (the same day you get all the start of the off-season emails), so you usually have a few weeks to re-sign him before FA file if you want him back.
