what's the latest update on OOTP 24 and names file?
I love the work everyone has done on here with the names files but I know the newest versions of ootp caused problems. For '24 has anyone confirmed the world names files importing will still work? And do you recommend we use it? I thought I heard ootp improved the names in newest version but not sure.

I haven't had issues with it in 24 yet.

Ok I looked up all the old posts and yes you can import the names/world database 2.0 but it breaks the flags and no one has talked about it since then and it never got fixed. What a bummer.

The flags temporarily disappear if you load it into an already existing league. All you have to do is reload.

Just close your game or go to the start screen and then continue.
You may need to do the world file since you need to use the one that comes with the names file to take advantage of all the new name sets. I've been using it since came out and have never had a permanent flag issue. TBH, I didn't even think of it as a bug per se because it happens to me when I reimport a world file update as well. Just assumed it had to do with rebuilding data or something. |

I've just noticed a problem in OOTP 23 and 24 with recent updates: fictional countries I added to the world_default.xml were deleted and the file was set back to regular.
This occurred on both the desktop and laptop that I own. It did not seem to affect the xml files on 21 and 22, which I modified in a similar way and still have on the laptop. I'm not certain which update did this, though my guess would be that it came out after January of this year. I've replaced the data (I had a spare copy) and I'm not installing any updates at all from OOTPD at this time, so the reloaded changes have stayed in place. Is anyone else noticing this problem?

If you installed an update, it typically installs the default database files over whatever is in there. I always back up my database folder before installing an update so I can put back whatever custom files I have back in the folder.
