1882 start, modernized
Simple concept. Started a historical game in 1882. No minors, just reserve clause.
Great negro league players will be imported in/ I started in 1882 to avoid the oddities of 1870's baseball. Season is 162 games, 5 man rotations- except 1882 which will be a 132 game season I have changed the team names to NFL teams so as to not feel odd that Ty Cobb does not play for the Tigers or whatnot. Free agency is on from day 1, but there is a salary cap. I am modernizing the league totals to closer to 1970's numbers, so deadball players will hit some home runs, and modern pitchers will not be striking out everybody. 1985 is the base season used for modifiers such as errors and steals. 3 teams make the playoff. Regular season leader is right into the Super Bowl. I will expand by 2 more teams in 1920, because of the extra negro league players by then making the talent pool much bigger. Other expansions are like MLB history, except only 2 in 1969 to make up for the early teams in 1920. Original 16 Baltimore, Buffalo, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dallas, Detroit, Kansas City, Miami,Minnesota, New England Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Washington |

1882 to 1890
The Dallas Cowboys have been the class of the league so far, played in 4 Super Bowls and won 4, finishing in first place in the regular season all 4 of those years. Buffalo has also been in 4 Super Bowls, winning 2, Oddly there have been only 4 other Super Bowl champs during that period. The best two teams to have not won the championship yet are the Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers. Super Bowls 1882 Kansas City Chiefs over Dallas 1883 Buffalo Bills over Miami 1884 Buffalo Bills over St. Louis 1885 Washington Redskins over Pittsburgh 1886 Washington over Cincinnati 1887 Dallas Cowboys over Buffalo 1888 New York Giants over Chicago 1889 New York Giants over Dallas 1890 Dallas Cowboys over Buffalo Last edited by sprague; 08-15-2018 at 01:02 PM. |
