Has anybody ever seen BJ Upton be remotely good in the 2013 MLB Quickstart, at least for 2013 itself? If he's ever not worth negative WAR, it's usually no more than 0.5...

Well let's hope the 2014 Quickstart has him playing at an MVP level then

I've got nothing against the guy, and I think a lot of the news stories and stuff about his "attitude" are unfair, but the Nats fan in me wants him to continue to be gloriously awful.

BJ Upton is the most-overrated ballplayer I have ever seen. I watched him play every day for several years. Except for the occassional non-clutch power he is hopeless at the plate. You can't put him in the top of the order because of his high K rate and low OBP. You can't put him in the middle of the order because he doesn't have enough power. You can't put him at the bottom of the oder because it doesn't roll over the line-up. You can bat him 7th or 8th and that's it. He really limits your flexibility offensively. He's better than a bench player offensively.

He does give you good speed and range in the outfield which mostly compensates for his bad reads. True, he has a strong arm but it is very erratic and wild. The worst part is that he doesn't have the sense to hit a cut-off man. Take the good with the bad and you have a middle-of-the pack defender. Defensively, you can do better off of the bench with most 4th outfielders simply because of mental mistakes in returning the ball to the infield.

Overall, a 0.5 WAR is just about right for this slightly above-average ballplayer.

Lastly, the whole attitude thing...It's not true. He's a soft-spoken kid who gets along well with his teammates. He needs to lay off of the weekends, if you take my meaning. Too many games I have seen him with bloodshot eyes.

I've played quite a few MLB QS seasons and out of all of them I've seen Upton do well once. He hit roughly .285 with something like 26 HRs playing for the Braves in 2014.

The Braves, in turn, gave Upton a 3-year extension for $46 million. The next season (2015) he regressed drastically.

in my game he retired after the 2017 season carreer .256 hitter with 173 HRs 681 RBIs and 1538 hits his best was 2012 (before start of OOTP) He was marginal but his brother Justin seems to do much better and is still playing in 2021 season and currently was injured for 5 months.

wow, that's a very good BJ Upton facegen. Where'd you get that? The all-in-one? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I play fictional alot. If this is what the face-gen looks like in the all-in-one I might want to reconsider.

As a braves fan I hated the bj signing and hate it even more so now that mccann signed for just 10 mil more then bj got last year
